Associational blocks

This is a pretty strong image! It portrays images of very strong negative connotations. One of the things I teach my students is the way that certain aspects of living, life, understand of the two can cause what is known as blocks. In this case it is an 'associational block'. What is meant by this? If you look at the image as an image and not as a nuclear explosion then you will see quite a good image. The colours are vivid, the proportions are correct and it has a depth and strength to it. The whole point of this is the aim to express the need to detach from one piece of information that may trigger adverse reaction simply because you have this information in your head. This affect works on many levels. Three moments (creatively)

This was a project I recently gave my students at college. The title being; "Three Moments in time". As always with these creative thinking projects I wanted to explore the possibilities of looking a little deeper at the process of thinking rather than creating. After all, it is very simple indeed to get a load of images of Google or take some shots of a candle or cigarette burning down. This wasn't really the point to this project. And so many times I find that the student end up resulting something out in that fashion. "Three moments in time" as a key starting point will, like any subject, deliver cliched initial concepts in the mind. Creativity vs Crazytivity

We live in the culture that is saturated with information so putting your message through requires lots of effort and creativity. The easiest way to be spotted in the information clutter is to be different. And being different is often erroneously labelled as being creative. One of the most important characteristics of successful thinkers is their ability to focus. How many times has it happened to you that you spent some time and energy thinking about something and you ended up with a bunch of interesting ideas on all other problems except on the one that you had actually been required to think about? This will happen every time unless you manage to maintain a clear focus on the subject that you are thinking about. The world is full of so called artists and creatives who are struggling to be different and unique.
