This is a double edged sword when the debate about the effectiveness of the internet comes into the arena. How does a creative person sell their wares, or even advertise their wares, without the fear of being copied, ripped off, or having work stolen and reuse. Well, it is an increasing trend in today's creative society to copy/paste concepts and ideas from the more talented and claim them as one's own. Look at the recent news of the Microsoft equivalent to the iPad, due in 2011. It is a simple reflection of the fact they replicated the iPod into a Zune, and replicated many feature from the OS X system interface into the Vista interface. This is just one example of high end reworking of the twists around copyright and patent laws. On a smaller level, and more creative level, how can one defend against someone stealing ideas. We live in the culture that is saturated with information so putting your message through requires lots of effort and creativity. The easiest way to be spotted in the information clutter is to be different. And being different is often erroneously labelled as being creative. One of the most important characteristics of successful thinkers is their ability to focus. How many times has it happened to you that you spent some time and energy thinking about something and you ended up with a bunch of interesting ideas on all other problems except on the one that you had actually been required to think about? This will happen every time unless you manage to maintain a clear focus on the subject that you are thinking about. Seafood pancake at  Hazel One of the go-to dishes on Korean restaurant runs for Rob Rubba, the chef at Hazel, is the typically wheel-size seafood-scallion pancake, or haemul pajeon. At the worldly Hazel, he gives the popular drinking snack a mouthwatering upgrade, cooking calamari and shrimp in garlic, ginger and miso butter and slathering the surface of the crust with house-made garlic mayonnaise. There’s more: sliced Fresno peppers for a little kick and sesame and flax seeds for a subtle crunch. While the chef, an advocate of “medium” plates, says he hopes he’s serving a dish “most Koreans would know,” he finishes the plate-size pancake with shavings of bottarga. The pink filings...
